Design Trends

One of the biggest design trends I've been seeing for awhile now making it's way across blogland is chalkboard paint.  Do-It-Yourselfers have been painting everything from kitchen cabinets, to refrigerators, walls, kids rooms, etc.  Have you all seen what I'm talking about?

Well, is it just me or does anyone else just not understand the hype.  I can't help but feel that chalkboards are dusty and messy.  Why would you want that in your home?  Especially if you have kids?

Had to get that off my chest- it's been bugging me for awhile now.  What are your pet peeves when it comes to design trends?

  1. I feel the same way about chalkboards and chalkboard paint. I'm definitely sitting this one out. I also feel the same way about mid calf skirts, but that's a fashion thing. :)

And I think burlap is super lame. Hope I don't get hate mail for that comment! :o)

  3. i couldn't agree more. personally, i think it encourages your kids to draw on the walls (chalkboard paint or not) and truly the littlest ones can't be expected to distinguish between a "regular" wall and one with chalkboard paint. and, yeah, chalk dust is messy. better leave that trend in the pretty decorating magazines that were staged for a photo shoot....its not for real homes with real kids. at least here in our home, lol.

  4. I don't understand why people are putting chandeliers and other fancy fixtures in their laundry rooms.
