Success

This little girl, has been pacifier free for two weeks now!  We originally started out with four pacifiers.  I can tell you exactly where we lost each one- the car wash, Marshall's and the Botanical Gardens.  We were down to one, and it seemed like a good time to 'pull the plug'.
Call us mean parents, but we've found a secret trick that seems to work for us whenever it comes to making "big" changes in our kids routines.  Make any changes when they're sick.  I know, sounds horrible.  Don't you usually want to do everything possible to make your kids feel comforted when they're not feeling well?  Well, for us this has worked when it came time to move Avery from her crib to her twin bed and now with weaning Zoe from the pacifier.  I guess when they're sick, they're just so physically tired that they don't really have the energy to fight these changes.  When they're stuffed up and congested and can't really breathe through their nose, then they're forced to spit out the pacifier anyways, so we just went with it.

How about you?  When/how did you wean your kids from the pacifier?

  2. She is so cute! We haven't weaned Ansley from her pacifier yet but at least we're just down to bed time and nap time.

  4. My third was the only one who used a pacifier, and we ditched hers at about 9 months old when she was sick. She couldn't use it anyway (too stuffed up!) and we just never tried again after that. I was so relieved -- I wasn't looking forward to trying to get rid of it later!

Good job, Zoe!! (And especially mommy!)

  6. Lookin' so big, Zoe!! Good for you, Jen. Hey, I've found that I go in prayerfully, but am often surprised at what works, or doesn't.

  7. Whatever works, I guess. My kids both liked their thumbs, so that was much harder to break. They both finally kicked the habit at 5. :)
