But, what about naptime and at night? I've tried letting her go without a diaper during naptime (with undies), but it ended up being a big mess. We've reduced her fluids starting around 3pm, so she's not really drinking that much right before bed. So what's the next step?

we used to get Ian up and take him potty when we went to bed, and then Nic would do it again when he went to work, because he was leaving at like 6 am. we can't do that with Mae. she wakes up too much and is ready to party. i have friends who didn't put their kids in underwear for bed until they were waking up in the morning dry consistently. if you're limiting fluids after 3, are you encouraging more fluids before 3? girls gotta stay hydrated!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, this girl would totally live on a liquid diet if we let her! No worries about keeping her hydrated :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I have no idea what the next step is. When you figure it out let me know! I do think time might have something to do with it though. . . . .
ReplyDeleteI would put her in a pullup at night -- call it her "nighttime undies." Once she starts waking up dry, switch to undies! No need to limit fluids or make a big deal about it! :o)
ReplyDeleteWe did pull-ups during nights at first too and it didn't seem to impact her ability to use the potty the rest of the day. Then one night our little one said she wanted to wear undies to bed. I figured it was worth a shot and she's only had two accidents at night in the past six months since we made the switch. For a while we left her little potty in her room at bedtime so that if she needed to go during the night or early morning, she wouldn't have to deal with navigating the house in the dark when time is of the essence ;) We just recently started leaving the little potty in her bathroom at night so she can go on her own and so far so good.
ReplyDeleteShe's woken up the past two nights crying because she's wet and wants to go potty. That's a good start! We'll have to start waking her up to go to the bathroom when we go to bed.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I did for naps. I think we just did potty beforehand.
ReplyDeleteFor nighttime, they wore a diaper for quite a while after being trained in the daytime. I think they got a little treat or sticker or something if it was dry in the morning. I heard someone on a TV show say don't waste your money on pull-ups at night, just use a diaper. I thought that was pretty much brilliant, cause those things are too expensive. :)
This photo of you and Avery is precious! :)
Don't know how helpful this would be, but... I slept like the dead and think I had my last bed-wetting incident when I was 12 or 14! Not very frequent after four or so, but still, embarrassing. Nothing could be done about it, though- I'd sleep through anything.
