The Sisters

Yesterday, I had Zoe on my lap while Avery was playing nearby.  I needed to put our lunch in the oven, so I put Zoe on the bean bag and left them alone in the room for two minutes.  When I came back, I saw this:

Where's Zoe?
Avery was so proud of herself, she said, "ta daaa" when I walked back into the room.  Zoe thought it was so great that her big sister was playing with her, she had the biggest smile on her face and was laughing.  Priceless!

Oh what the heck, here's one more

Geesh, I'm a roll this week.  This will be my last rant post for awhile, I promise.  I guess when you are so busy taking care of two small children and every minute needs to count, sometimes it's the small things in life that really annoy you.

My pet peeve:  packaging that requires so much effort to get into.

Examples:
Foil pull tops- Why do they have to make the pull tab so stinking small?  I don't have large hands, but I can barely grab enough of that little tiny piece of foil to remove it.  Guilty:  Coffee-Mate creamer, Gerber baby foods, Similac powdered formula, Lawry's marinades.

Re-sealable foods- You know the kind, where you tear the red strip off the top of the bag (like a ziploc).  Great concept, except if they place that stupid red strip too far down.  You tear off too much and then it's virtually impossible to open the package again because there's nothing to grab onto.  Guilty:  Lucerne cheese snacker cuts, Chips Ahoy small bites, Trader Joe's meunster cheese.

Okay, enough said.  Do you have any pet peeves of this nature?

While I'm at it...

Another thing I've been contemplating lately is window treatments.  Specifically when you buy or sell a house.  I've never understood why you would want to buy a house with the prior inhabitants window treatments.  Isn't design/decor taste subjective?  It's so personal and unique to each individual, so this trend totally baffles me.

As a seller, I've always assumed that I would take my window treatments with me, or remove them at the very least prior to moving.  So why do some real estate listings and agents proclaim, "includes all window treatments" like it's a good thing?

Just a random thought.

Design Trends

One of the biggest design trends I've been seeing for awhile now making it's way across blogland is chalkboard paint.  Do-It-Yourselfers have been painting everything from kitchen cabinets, to refrigerators, walls, kids rooms, etc.  Have you all seen what I'm talking about?

Well, is it just me or does anyone else just not understand the hype.  I can't help but feel that chalkboards are dusty and messy.  Why would you want that in your home?  Especially if you have kids?

Had to get that off my chest- it's been bugging me for awhile now.  What are your pet peeves when it comes to design trends?
