Success

This little girl, has been pacifier free for two weeks now!  We originally started out with four pacifiers.  I can tell you exactly where we lost each one- the car wash, Marshall's and the Botanical Gardens.  We were down to one, and it seemed like a good time to 'pull the plug'.
Call us mean parents, but we've found a secret trick that seems to work for us whenever it comes to making "big" changes in our kids routines.  Make any changes when they're sick.  I know, sounds horrible.  Don't you usually want to do everything possible to make your kids feel comforted when they're not feeling well?  Well, for us this has worked when it came time to move Avery from her crib to her twin bed and now with weaning Zoe from the pacifier.  I guess when they're sick, they're just so physically tired that they don't really have the energy to fight these changes.  When they're stuffed up and congested and can't really breathe through their nose, then they're forced to spit out the pacifier anyways, so we just went with it.

How about you?  When/how did you wean your kids from the pacifier?

Downward Dog

Zoe was sitting on my lap the other day and was reaching forward for something on the ground.  I looked down and realized, Zoe's doing yoga!

If you haven't been by now...

don't waste your time.  Today was the day the Missoni line made its appearance at Target.  I figured I'd pack up the kids and go check out what all the fuss was about.  We got there at 10am, and practically everything was sold out.  I'm not kidding.

Scarves/Gloves- one left.
Bath Towels- gone.
Kitchen hand towels- one left.
Drinking cup- one left.
Cosmetic bag- one left.
Picture frames- gone.
Artwork- gone.
Women's tunic- two left, not my size.
Women's shoes- gone.
Throw pillows- gone.

I'm sure the Target employees love these designer launches.  They must have stayed late last night setting up and organizing all the end caps with the Missoni posters, price codes/labels and inventory.  And by 10am this morning they were taking them all down and re-stocking with regular inventory.  I was hoping to pick up a few random items as I really love the zig zag designs, but I came away empty handed.

Pretty sure if I wanted something badly enough I could probably find it on ebay this afternoon...and pay twice as much.

Life with two girls

Tonight after dinner:
Franz to Avery:  "Your kitty cat helmet and your green tutu go great together!"
Jen to Franz:  "Did I just hear what I think you just said?"

Summer is finally here!

The exclamation point in the title was sarcasm.  Why does summer always show up in September for us Californians?  When school is back in session, and the rest of the country is talking about fall and pulling out their sweaters and jackets.  We've had spotty weather the past three months.  Some days were warm, others were breezy and relatively cool, so I really shouldn't complain- it's been a nice summer.  But it always gets unbearably hot starting in September.

I've got projects to do that require me being outside...sanding, staining, stapling, upholstering.  But I can't do any of them in this heat unless I want to pass out!

On a side not, extreme heat always causes me to lose my appetite.  Anyone else get this way?
